40 years ago, brothers Steve and George Hawley founded Phoenix with a mission to be the local general contractors of choice for quality construction services in the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. They went on to build Phoenix into one of the industry’s leading and most respected community-serving general contracting companies in the Cayman Islands.
- George’s son, Shayne Howe, joined the company in 1989. Shayne has played an integral role in growing Phoenix as well as starting and developing the companies that form the Phoenix Group.
- In 2006 and 2007 respectively, George and Steve retired and Shayne took over the Managing Director role to lead the Group forward.
- In 2012, Phoenix acquired Brent McComb’s’ luxury home construction business and Brent joined the company. Since then, Phoenix has expanded its residential division and become a market leader in designing and building luxury custom homes.
- In 2015, Shayne and Brent opened a branch office in St. Kitts and Nevis to serve the eastern Caribbean. Shayne and Brent both share the vision of sustaining growth, embracing change, and continuing to build the core values that our customers have grown to rely on.
In addition to Phoenix’s leadership, its many professional and dedicated staff have played a large part in developing Phoenix and our construction industry into what it is today. They take a strong interest in, and continue to contribute to, the growth of our company and community.
